Columbia Regional Pipe Band
The band’s goal is to present our music and the culture of the Scottish Highlands to our community in the best possible light, and to pass on its traditions to new practitioners, keeping the music alive for future generations. To that end we are a teaching organization, and one of our core commitments is the development of our younger members as musicians. We support non-profit community events as often as possible, in addition to appearances supporting other groups or businesses.
CRPB is headed for Scotland!
The Columbia Regional Pipe Band will compete in Scotland in August 2015, at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow. Our first overseas competition trip will be the culmination of three years of effort. At this point, our music is set and our band sound is the best it’s ever been. We’re confident that we will make a good showing for our first trip to Glasgow, add tremendously to our collective and individual experience, and have a great time! What do we still need? A lot! It’s an extremely expensive proposition and the band hopes that donations will defray many of the expenses for our pipers and drummers. We are also very interested in welcoming new members who might like to compete with us next summer. But time is short for learning our sets!
We need people! Our emphasis right now is on the 2015 season, so at this point our primary need is for experienced competitors, especially pipers, but everyone is welcome. To get involved, click here.
Support the Band
We are a non-profit educational organization, with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are amazed and grateful to already have achieved a certain amount of fundraising success from friends, former band members, and others in the community! We are raising money for travel and accommodations for the Scotland trip, and hope to upgrade our snare drums, harnesses, and tenor drums.
